We found a fourth group to participate in our Easter festival, from Hungary. Now our programme is complete.
They call themselves Debreceni Hajdú Táncegyüttes and if you can read Hungarian, you can find everything about them on their website: http://www.hajdufolk.hu/.
The Velička Folk Ensemble comes from Velká and Veličkou, a village at the foot of the White Carpathians in the Horňácko region, close to the Czech-Slovak border. The group was founded in 1968 as successor of the ethnographic group and ensemble Velička, which was active between 1953 and 1968. The Velička Folk Ensemble has performed both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Their are accompanied by a hammer dulcimer orchestra. Together with this orchestra the ensemble has produced a CD and even performed in several TV documentaries.
Ever since 1983 the folk ensemble Rancho Folclórico from Paranhos da Beira is focussed on collecting and propagating their cultural heritage, both in Portugal and abroad. The International Festival for Music and Traditional Dance, organised in the first weekend of August, demonstrates this dedication to the heritage of the Portuguese people. In 2009 the Portuguese Folklore Federation honoured the group with membership of this organisation.
