Ever since 1983 the folk ensemble Rancho Folclórico from Paranhos da Beira is focussed on collecting and propagating their cultural heritage, both in Portugal and abroad. The International Festival for Music and Traditional Dance, organised in the first weekend of August, demonstrates this dedication to the heritage of the Portuguese people. In 2009 the Portuguese Folklore Federation honoured the group with membership of this organisation.

The choreographies reflect the work on the fields, the leisure time and the religious life of the inhabitants of Serra da Estrela. Rhythmic movements performed in a circle evoce the work rhythm. The songs as well describe both the hard work in the fields and the leisure time or special occasions. The costumes show the fashion at the beginning of the 20th century from different classes of the population, such as pilgrims, the upper class, the poor and the archetypical figure of Serra da Estrela: the shepherd.
